What is biomechanics?

Biomechanics is the science that deals with the complex way in which the body moves. How the foot is placed on the ground affects the rest of the body as it is moving and vice versa. This may give rise to not only painful feet, but also pain elsewhere such as knee pain, back pain and can even be a cause of migraine!!! Experienced Podiatrists, such as Debra Darke, can treat such biomechanical problems. A biomechanical assessment includes a thorough medical history, examination of joint motion and gait analysis. After which a treatment plan is discussed, this may include exercise, shoe, or orthotic therapy (special insoles).
